Recently released data obtained by the Transparent California project has revealed full-career retirees receiving pensions from the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, or CalPERS, receive more in pension payments than the average Californian makes in salary. The report found nearly 20,000 former government employees receive six figure pensions, an increase from the previous year. Retirees from local agencies such as cities, towns and special districts were found to earn more than retirees from the state.
