OPINION: Unions Eyeing 2016 California Ballot for Tax Hike Measures

While California’s political establishment promised recent tax hikes enacted in 2012 by Proposition 30 would be temporary, special interests are now mobilized for new tax increased when the measure expires in 2016, writes Steven Greenhut in Reason.com.  Among proposals under consideration are extensions to Proposition 30, a “split roll” that eliminates Proposition 13 protections for business, oil tax increases and tobacco tax increases.
