OPINION: Union bills proliferate in Capitol

California’s labor unions are the state’s biggest political campaign contributors, giving them substantial influence over the legislative process, writes Dan Walters in the Los Angeles Daily News.  Many union sponsored bills have advanced this year and will be given final consideration by legislators when they return from recess in August.  Among the proposals they will examine are bills to unionize new sectors of the workforce, increase wages and implement less transparent negotiation procedures.
