OPINION: Paying more at the pump will not fix California’s roads if politicians keep raiding the gas-tax fund
With the newest gas tax increase, Californians now pay an astounding 58.2 cents per gallon toward taxes (will rise to 65.7 cents in 2019). California’s massive revenue from these taxes should be funneled into transportation infrastructure. However, William Shughart and Kristian Fors, writing under Orange County Register, underscore why this outcome is a bleak expectation.
