OPINION: High Speed Rail: Speeding in wrong direction

The bullet train is a project California cannot afford, with estimates of the rising costs being anywhere from $65-100 billion. Not only that, but critics say that work on the easiest part of the track is almost 7 years behind schedule. Private investors have shown no interest in investing in a ballooning-cost project, all the while critical state infrastructure goes unfunded.
