OPINION: California, where less costs more

Californians have continuously experienced rising prices for many key aspects of life such as housing, higher education, energy and water, but a high tax rate has not translated into quality services writes Joe Mathews in Fortune.  Underinvestment has produced a crumbling infrastructure that does not meet the needs of the growing population.  The political establishment’s solution has been to put a positive spin on conservation even though the reality is Californians are paying more for less.
