California’s taxes are among the highest in the nation and this year a surging stock market and booming tech sector have resulted in billions in unexpected revenues, making tax hikes especially unnecessary writes Board of Equalization Member George Runner in Rocklin and Roseville Today.  Legislators have nonetheless introduced numerous proposals to reduce Proposition 13 protections, and impose new taxes on services, gas, car registration and more, demonstrating they are out of touch with the concerns of overtaxed Californians.
