NEWS: State retiree health care gap reaches $72 billion

California faces a shortfall of $72 billion in paying for retiree health and dental benefits according to a report by State Controller John Chiang, reports the Associated Press.  Chiang is urging legislators to set more money aside to pay for these future expenses instead of passing the debt on to the next generation, at which point the liability will be even greater.
