NEWS: California Taxpayers Billed $40,000 for Events

The State Senate’s incoming Democratic leader recently held an “inauguration” for himself in Los Angeles featuring musical performances and 2,000 guests.  In addition to $50,000 in special interest funding used to pay for the celebration, recently obtained expense records show $40,000 in costs were billed to taxpayers, reports the Associated Press.  The event was unusual because inaugural parties are usually reserved only for Governors and Presidents.
