“Renewable energy standard” or RES mandates are driving up energy costs and harming the poor in the states that have adopted these policies, writes Stephen Moore in the Washington Times. In addition to higher costs, these mandates, which rely on unreliable solar and wind power, are unrealistic and threaten to cause blackouts and brownouts. California recently adopted an extreme 100 percent renewable mandate by 2045, threatening major harm to the economy if it is actually carried out.
