Citing high taxes, high costs, and an overabundance of regulations, California has once again been ranked last in Chief Executive magazine’s “Best and Worst States for Business” ranking. Despite the Legislative Analyst’s Office recommending that the State do away with selective tax credit programs, state officials continue to try to influence business in the state by means of the tax code, rather than directly addressing the issues that plague the state, writes the OC Register’s editorial board.
