HJTA joins Gov. Brown in critical case for pension reform
The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has joined Gov. Jerry Brown in an effort to end a state rule that limits changes to public employee pension plans. On February 21, HJTA filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the California Supreme Court in CalFire Local 2881 v. CalPERS, a case involving the so-called “California Rule,” which has limited changes to public employee pension plans, no matter how unaffordable they might be for state and local governments.
