While many Californians on the coast enjoy prosperity, high taxes and burdensome regulations have resulted in a much different California inland where blue collar residents of the Central Valley suffer high unemployment and widespread poverty, writes Victor Davis Hanson in Townhall.com. Although the problems created by government policies may not be so evident in Silicon Valley, just a three hour drive away in Fresno high gas and utility prices, lack of access to quality education and an absence of middle class jobs are a major burden on people.
