There are those in the California Legislature who spend time creating new taxes that fulfill “feel good” causes. One of the most prominent is the cause of environmentalism. The California state budget currently has a $1.6 billion deficit and state pensions are at least $4 billion short every year. And critics say that taxes that are created for environmental issues will almost assuredly be raised and raided to help pay for government worker pensions.
