The University of California is proposing a 5 percent annual tuition increase over the next five years to add new courses and faculty and improve graduation rates, reports Reuters. The Governor, who opposes tuition increases, has proposed increasing funding for the UC system by 4 percent annually, but some observers believe the school’s discussion of tuition increases is meant to pressure the Governor to increase funding even more.
