Amid concerns professional licensing boards act to diminish competition, prohibit new entrepreneurs from becoming established and raise prices for consumers, the United States Supreme Court ruled many such boards are unconstitutional, reports the Los Angeles Times. California policymakers are currently trying to determine how the ruling affects the numerous state boards governed by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
