While California’s local government employees receive approximately $40 billion in annual pay, a lack of standards with respect to compensation has resulted in major disparities, reports KQED News. An analysis by The Center for Investigative Reporting examined publicly available data and determined there are often steep differences in pay from county to county, even in geographically close counties of similar size and population.
