Governor Jerry Brown has proposed a new state budget that includes billions in spending increases intended for education, healthcare and infrastructure. The Governor hopes the Legislature will pass tax increases to help provide additional revenues, but Republicans have rejected new taxes and urged more restraint in new spending.
