NEWS: State Auditor Questions Covered California’s No-Bid Contracts Totaling $200 Million

While state agencies are usually required to solicit multiple bids to maximize value and avoid conflicts of interest, the state auditor recently raised questions about $200 million spent by Covered California without competitive bidding, reports the Associated Press.  This spending represents one fifth of total spending at the agency.  However, the agency says new guidelines implemented last month are stricter and will reduce the number of no-bid contracts awarded.
