OPINION: Mandate to cut gasoline use would cripple California’s economy

A rapidly advancing proposal under consideration in the State Legislature would mandate an unreasonable 50% cut in fuel consumption but fails to specify how this would be accomplished writes Orange County Taxpayers Association President Carolyn Cavecche in the Orange County Register.  Instead, Senate Bill 350 gives the California Air Resources Board unlimited authority to create new regulations.  One possible scenario may involve subsidies for the purchase of millions of new electric costs at massive cost to taxpayers.
