OPINION: Local measures will test support for tax extensions

With California voters likely to vote on an extension of the Proposition 30 tax increase on their 2016 ballot, the outcome of votes on the numerous local taxes proposed for 2014 will help indicate whether Californians are supportive of higher taxes, writes Dan Walters in the Sacramento Bee.  A compilation of local tax proposals prepared by the California Taxpayers Association reveals hundreds of local tax increases will be on voters’ ballots around the state, which if approved would result in billions of dollars in tax increases.
