NEWS: Party money paramount in California Democrats’ supermajority success

The Democrats regained supermajority control that was achieved, largely, in part to special interest donations. In 2000, Prop 34 put limits on political contributions from individuals but increased the limit on what county and state parties could contribute to a race. And this year, party committees made the difference by donating over $32 million to over 30 candidates running for Assembly and Senate.
