NEWS: CalPERS funding gap will be paid for by taxpayers

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is about to have a deficit of $139 billion, which is up almost $50 billion from only 3 years ago. It has been hinted at that California taxpayers’ will either receive fewer public services or have to pay higher taxes until CalPERS can be completely funded again.
