A new Field Poll reveals that Meg Whitman holds a commanding 5-1 lead over fellow gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner in the upcoming Republican primary. Perhaps more surprisingly, the poll found that in a general election matchup with Jerry Brown Meg even leads in heavily Democratic Los Angeles County, indicating her strength as a candidate.  Read more >>

Meg Whitman, the ex-CEO of eBay, has come out swinging in her bid for the California governor’s office. The Los Angeles Times describes Whitman’s pre-emptive strike against GOP rival Steve Poizner as “classic political hardball.” Although this strategy has backfired against many well-heeled candidates in the past, it may well lead Whitman to victory if she can keep her campaign focused on the issues that fiscally conservative voters care about.  Read more >>
