ARTICLE: Group Shines Light On Hefty Gov. Pensions

This article in the Wallstreet Journal spotlights the recent campaign initiated by the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility (CFFR) to publicize the names of state employees receiving over $100k a year in government pensions. Though past attempts to cut these pensions have failed, the CFFR is currently pushing for a referendum that would cut pensions and save the state billions of taxpayer dollars.

The Last Taxpayer

Several news reports over the last week had me thinking of the 1973 Charlton Heston movie Soylent Green, an "Al-Gorean" view of the earth's future as a dying planet no longer able to provide enough food to sustain the human population. At one point during the film, the mayor of New York treats his children to a visit to Central Park where they get to see the tree.
