NEWS: Former CalPERS CEO Buenrostro plans to plead guilty in pension corruption case

Fred Buenrostro, who formerly served as chief executive of CalPERS, a state retirement fund, is planning to plead guilty to corruption charges, his lawyer says. The Sacramento Bee reports Buenrostro is accused of accepting bribes, forging letters and engaging in conspiracy in association with $3 billion in investments with Apollo Global Management, a major Wall Street firm.

NEWS: Calpers approves employer rate hikes of up to 50 pct

Reuters reports the board of California's $255 billion public pension fund on Wednesday approved accounting changes requiring state agencies, cities and counties to pay rate increases of up to 50 percent in a plan to fully fund the pension system's obligations in 30 years.
