(PR) LOWERING TWO-THIRDS VOTE A NON-STARTER WITH VOTERS: POLL CALLS INTO QUESTION VIABILITY OF ACA 8

Today (12) the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association released the results of a poll which shows that a proposed ballot measure seeking to lower the two thirds vote for local bonds would face significant hostility from California voters. "The results of the poll are especially important given that Assembly Constitutional Amendment No. 8 (ACA 8) is currently pending in the California Senate" said HJTA President Jon Coupal. (PR) BROWN’S BUDGET IS INCOMPLETE

(PR) Report details billions in government waste

Sacramento — The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Foundation has released a new report titled, "Follow the Money," detailing government waste, fraud and abuse uncovered in 2013.

The report offers examples of irresponsible spending including a 13,000 square foot mansion for UC President Janet Napolitano, the mishandling of hundreds of millions in ratepayer money at the Public Utilities Commission and billions in mental health money spent without oversight as to its effectiveness.  Read more >>

(PR) A Victory for taxpayers: Court Rules Against Bullet Train Authority

Sacramento — Taxpayers received good news this morning (25) when Sacramento Superior Court Judge Michael Kenny denied the State permission to put taxpayers in debt another almost nine billion dollars, which the California High Speed Rail Authority wanted to use on a project not even remotely close to what the State pitched to California voters when they approved high speed rail five years ago.  Read more >>
